Red Ball (Ages 4 - 8)

Level 1 (Age 4-5)
Kids are introduced to the fundamentals of tennis through activities designed to build a solid foundation for long term athletic development. Activities are focused on developing the ABCs (agility, balance, and coordination) all while forming skills necessary to serve, rally, and score. The red foam and felt balls are used on the 36-foot Red Courts. Recommended 1-2 days per week.

Level 2 (Age 6-8)
In this class, our students continue to sharpen their ABCs (agility, balance, and coordination) while beginning to develop more dynamic movement and footwork patterns that focus on sending and receiving. We introduce topspin and underspin on both the forehand and backhand strokes as well as the different grips used. Ability to intentionally place the ball short, deep, and side to side is crucial before graduating to the next level. Typically this is the developmental stage with the greatest duration. Upon completion, most players will progress to the orange ball level 2. The red foam and felt balls are used on the 36-foot Red Courts. Recommended 1-2 days per week.

Orange Ball (Ages 8 - 10)

Orange Ball Level 1 (Age 8-10)
This level introduces the basics skills of tennis through the use of hand-eye coordination drills along with stroke production. The ABCs (agility, balance, and coordination) are a major focus at this level. Cooperative drills are used to introduce players to serve, rally, and scoring. The low compression orange balls are used on the 60-foot Orange Courts.

Orange Ball Level 2 (Age 8-10)
This level builds upon the sound athletic base established in earlier classes while integrating more spatial and time constraints. Players utilize control, spin, and positioning to their advantage while also being able to consistently rally and cooperate with a partner. We integrate hand-eye coordination drills along with footwork skills. The ability to maintain proper technique during points and proficiency on serve is a necessity before graduating to the next level. Students should begin to participate in Round Robins while at this level. The low compression orange balls are used on the 60-foot Orange Courts.

Singles and doubles strategy is also a large component to this level. Focus is on the keys to consistency, footwork, serve/return, and match toughness.  We highly recommend this class for all players that will be trying out and want to have success on the high school level.
